FreeMagellan Healthcare Recovery & Resiliency webinar, “From hardship to hope: Strategies to foster financial wellness”
Wednesday, March 30, 2022, 2:00-3:30 p.m. ET
Presenter: Oscar Jiménez-Solomon, MPH, research scientist, New York State Psychiatric Institute; senior research staff associate (psychiatry), Columbia University Irving Medical Center; and PhD student researcher, Columbia University Center on Poverty and Social Policy
Following Dr. Peggy Swarbrick’s presentation on the Eight Dimensions of Wellness, this workshop introduces two concrete tools that peer providers, case managers and other individuals can use to foster financial wellness among those they support. The Financial Wellness Engagement Tool helps guide conversations about the person’s chief financial stressors and motivations to pursue financial wellness goals, and why these matter to the person in the context of their personal and cultural identities. The Financial Wellness Action Plan is a tool to develop concrete action steps that build on individuals’ material, human, social and cultural capital. Information is also presented on financial wellness supports that are available in many communities. This interactive workshop gives participants the chance to begin utilizing these financial wellness tools.
